A few of the members got together on Sunday for a nice ride to Solomon's Island. The weather was perfect and the ride was very meditative, to say the least. We ate, sat by the water, enjoyed each others' company, and just took in the moment...watching the sailboats and yachts cruise out into the vast Cheapeake Bay. Shi Fu Lawrence Garrett, one of our most respected Blackbelts, has temporarily left the family nest and embarked on a new and exciting journey of higher learning. This fine young man is now a student at Temple University, where he is pursuing a degree in Sports Medicine.

We are truly proud of this young leader and wish him the very best that life has to offer. We know that wherever he goes, he will be an asset and example for others to follow.

In closing, we would like to thank his mother, Mrs. Leslie Garrett Eggleston for bringing us such a fine and gifted young man. It is truly an honor to have him as an example of excellence, for other young future leaders to look up to. In the spirit.

Summer camp belt test ceremony and Academic Achievers event was a huge success!!

Well another super successful camp experience has come and gone. Our campers enjoyed a fun filled 8 weeks field trips, healthy competitions, fitness training Arts and Craft, Spanish and Sign Language and much much more. They cultivated new friendships and were mentored by some of the most caring counselors and Jr. counselors in the Full Circle family. At Full Circle, providing a magical experience for our future leaders is serious business to us. We know that an "inspired child... is a future leader!" We do more...because we care.

During our closing ceremony, campers as young as 5 years old demonstrated to a panel of blackbelts their martial arts skill and awesome fitness level. They also surprised their parents and guest by speaking Spanish and Sign language without missing a beat. We would like to congratulate them for a job well done and wish them much success in the upcoming school year.

This year, Master Scott found himself standing in line balancing 5 bikes at the checkout register. Yes, we had 5 super achievers who stepped up to the plate by receiving straight A's all 4 quarters! We also had over 20 students that made the honor roll all 4 quarters...way to go!!! We are truly proud of our academic achievers and wish them much success in the coming school year.. REMEMBER, "IF IT IS TO BE, IT'S UP TO ME!" Make it Happen!

The team, lead by Guro Chuck and Guro Johanna, drew a serious crowd as they displayed their reality self-defense skills.

Kesha Brown set the tempo by letting the judges know, through her actions and look, that she was there for business.

Jacquelyn Cannon followed suit with her no-nonsense demonstration...executing with precision and skill.

Taleema Chesney not only won her division with precision technique, she had the judges and crowd wondering if she was demonstrating or really defending herself...her look was PIERCING!

Jazzym Williams won her division and shocked all of her classmates with her rock-solid confidence and near perfect demonstration.

Guro Johanna, like a skilled leader, showed the students and crowd what it means to be a black belt leader at Full Circle. Her demonstration was flawless! Master Scott said he trained her one time, for 30 minutes and then left the rest for her to work out on her own. "She led by example"!

Master Scott and the Guros are very proud of you all! A special thank you to our parents, students, black belts and friends who came out to support their family members.

Master Scott recently conducted an Edge Weapon Defense seminar for students, fellow martial artists and Law Enforcement officials.

The participants enjoyed the real world approach Master Scott presented, which included graphic photos, real attacks caught on video, and a dozen or more makeshift edged weapons.

A special thank you goes out to Myron Ellis, a student of Master Scott’s and a training instructor for Prince George’s County Dept. of Corrections, for a special presentation on edged weapons.

Due to an overwhelming response, Master Scott has conducted a second session and is considering certifying a select group of students to help spread the word about edge weapon safety.

Stay tuned for his upcoming seminar featuring his new invention – a weapon called 'The Protector". The “Protector” is a flexible weapon that wraps, binds, throws and chokes your attacker in seconds!

The movie was well put together with a serious story line...no we're not going to tell you about the movie. You'll have to go and see it for yourself. Our academic scholars enjoyed a fun evening that included: games, challenges and pizza. This is our way of recognizing our leaders for their hard work and commitment in school. As we come down the home stretch of the fourth and final quarter, we expect to see a record number of students make the honor roll! We are extremely proud of you all ...keep up the great work!

On Saturday, May 15th, Master Scott, along with his self defense team, performed a women's self defense demo at a "Women's Rally" for County Executive candidate Michael Jackson. The theme of the event was centered around women safety and Sheriff Jackson has been on the front lines addressing women violence in Prince George's County. Because of his dedication, commitment and the loyality he's shown, to not only women, but to the residents of Prince George's County, Master Scott has endorsed Michael Jackson for County Executive. He urges all of our familly members who welcome positive change to do the same.

Guro Rhonda and Guro Johanna put on an awesome demo which included; choke escapes, barehug escapes and Defender techniqes (Keychain Weapon). Special thank you to: Claudette, Thomas, and Nadia Miller, Guro Brian, Myron Ellis, Shi Fu JT, and Amanda Cole for helping make this demo a huge success.

Congrats to our recent test graduates! Our students displayed excellent skill and discipline as they petitioned the panel for their next belt rank. The Lil Ninjas was a class act as they proved to themselves, and their parents, that they can do anything they put their mind to. We are truly proud of you all and ask they you continue to work hard toward your ultimate goal of Black Belt. For every step you take, we'll take two! Remember; "If it is to be...it's up to me!" Make it happen!

On Thursday, April 22nd, we implemented our "Haiti Relief" campaign by supplying over 35 cases of water, toiletries and much more. Many thanks to the students and parents who stepped up to help those in need. Please keep in mind that although Haiti isn't being televised as much as when the earthquake first occurred, the devastation continues.

We encourage you to continue to help us help those in need by providing 1 case of water a month...that's approximately $3.99 a month. Shipments will be picked up from our Capitol Heights location on a monthly basis until further notice. (Glenn Dale parents and students can continue to drop off their supplies at that location.)

On Saturday, April 10th, the Full Circle family had the privilege of participating in a high energy workout with Shi Fu Shi Yan Ming, 34th Generation Warrior Monk. The students were taught the power of "Basics" and were drilled repeatedly on the proper stances, moving basics and kicking. They even learned one of their beginner forms and was praised by Shi Fu for their strong training ethic.

Shi Fu Ming gave a life-altering lecture about life and the conduct of a warrior. He stressed to the students to "Love yourself, believe in yourself and take care of yourself by training/exercising everyday... Not only your body, your mind as well. Don't make excuses for yourself, train hard everyday, on the floor and in your life." His powerful words resonated throughout the school as the students and parents attentively listened to his profound life lessons. Grateful for his presence, we look forward to Shi Fu’s return in the very near future. Also, a special thank you to his students who were also highly skilled, humble and super energetic! They did an excellent job teaching and inspiring our students to perform at their very best.

On Thursday, March 25th, the teaching staff at Woodstream Christian Academy experienced Master Scott's "Breathing for Life" stress buster therapy.

Guro Johanna and Claudette assisted Master Scott by providing case studies on the debilitating effects of stress and the benefits of meditation.

All of the participants, after the first 15 minutes, stated that they were very relaxed and calm. Everyone floated away with a renewed since of calm.

Over 20 members of Street Combat had an awesome time at the 5th annual gathering in Orlando, Florida. Members as far away as Norway came out to support Ama Guro Raffy Pambuan's New Instructor cerification program "Lo Lo Cinco Terro". A special thank you to everyone who help feed the homeless during the Thanksgiving Holiday! With your help we help feed 593 people!

Over 40 participants have started on the path of superior health and longevity. They have submerged themselves into the ancient art of Chi Kung...breath training. In this 2 part seminar, they learned:

- How to slow their breathing pattern, reducing the workload of their vital organs

- Ancient Chi Kung sets dating back thousand of years (these sets are currently used in hospitals and clinics in China)

- Chi massage to stimulate energy for healing of joint and back pain as well as skin therapy

- Our Black Belts were taught special Wai Dan sets to develop internal strength as well as a breathing discipline called "Warrior Breath"

Our campers had the time of their life making new friends, playing with each other and enjoying over 18 field trips together! At the end of the camp, they put on an awesome display for their parents and family members, to include: physical fitness, martial arts, a School Safe / Street Safe demo, Spanish and sign language. Some of the parents were shocked to see their child perform with confidence and grace!

Our campers were also given awards for participating in a host of healthy competitions, to include: flag football, basketball, checkers & chess, math, spelling bees and more. In the end, no one wanted to leave; tears flowed as they hugged their new friends and said their goodbyes.

On Tuesday, August 25th, Master Scott and his team conducted a "Compliance & Control" workshop for Prince George’s County Department of Corrections’ finest.

Twenty-nine members participated in a 2-hour training session that focused on "non-striking" control techniques. A former 15-year veteran of the Dept. of Corrections, Master Scott took a personal interest in teaching them key principles and tactics that are conducive to the Correctional environment. He closed with a "real world" lecture about the importance of having a professional image, strong character and a keen sense of awareness.

The training was well received by the Correctional candidates and their awesome training staff. Master Scott would like to thank his comrades, Corporal Ellis, Corporal Lewis and the other training staff members for allowing him to give back to the team and to help keep the new officers safe and out of court.

On Monday, October 13, the Prince George's County public school system hosted "Men Make A Difference Day." Master Scott, Brian Williams, and Sensei Gunny Toppin stepped up to the plate and spent the day visiting students at the many elementary schools that Full Circle services. Many students were surprised, yet pleased, to receive a visit from these positive male role models as they spent time in their classrooms and visited many during lunch.

"It was disappointing to see only a few dads present at the schools ... we still don't get it," states Master Scott.

As Master Scott also states, "as a community school, Full Circle's program reaches far beyond the physical aspect of martial arts. We teach life skills that will carry over into other areas of their lives ... then we challenge them to greatness."

Master Samuel Scott and the Full Circle Team was featured on Channel 9 News with Jennifer Ryan on Sunday, October 5, 2008. Master Scott spoke of awareness and possible rape prevention techniques.

On Wednesday, June 18, Master Powell and Master Scott participated in a special presentation of China's History at the National Geographic Institute. The event was titled Voyages of Zheng He, in which representatives for the U.S. were Grand Master Willie Lin, Grand Master Dennis Brown, Master Ervin, and a 31st Generation Shaolin Monk, Master Shi De Chao (who currently resides at the Shaolin Temple).

Our 2007-08 After-school Junior Leadership Team's final project involved preparing a written speech on how to make the world a better place. Our Annual School Cook-out was, again, a huge success! We had lots of food, lots of fun, lots of activities, and lots of people attend this exciting event! If you didn't make it this year, we hope to see you next year! (2007)
